The Visual Arts and English Departments are proud to announce that 3 students advanced to the semi-final round in the Cincinnati Overture Competition over the weekend.  Emily Drexelius and Shelby Lambright both competed in the Visual Arts category and Erin Lindberg competed in the Creative Writing category.   Emily, Shelby, and Erin will compete for the finals on February 11th.  Congratulations to all our participants. 

This year, 68 schools from our region participated in The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. This program is the nation’s longest-running and most respected recognition program for creative teens in grades 7–12.The competition included 4,296 entries from our region, and 38 Lakota students received 71 awards.

Among the winners was Sierra Jones, who received an American Visions Award. Her photograph was selected from all the Gold Key winners as one of the top 5 pieces in the entire competition.

The Awards Night is Friday, January 27th at the School for Creative and Performing Arts. All Gold Key winners will move onto the national competition in New York City.  National medal winners will be announced in March.  The exhibition is currently at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
